Giant Leap for Kitebrook Sports
Facing tough opposition from competing schools at this year’s National Prep Schools’ Athletics Championships, Kitebrook Preparatory School have excelled.
Entering four of their Year 8 athletes into the competition for the first time, they travelled to Stourport to take part in the West of England regional event. All of the competitors performed brilliantly, but the outstanding results of the day came from Daisy F.
Daisy competed in the Long Jump against eight other prep schools and won by producing a leap of 4.54m, some 30cm greater than her closest competitor. Her success on the day has ensured her qualification place at the National Finals in July, to be held in Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium. She also came 2nd in the 300m sprint and has qualified at the Nationals for this event too.
Head of Girls Sport Mrs Anna Edgerton said: “This is a superb achievement for Daisy; the qualifying standards for the Finals are extremely high and she has already proven she is amongst the top Prep School athletes in her age group.
“We are extremely proud of her, and the efforts of all our competitors. The Finals are going to be a wonderful opportunity for both Daisy, and Kitebrook, and we wish her every success.”
