In 1959, Anne McDermott founded Kitebrook with the vision of creating a school that offered not only academic excellence but also a close-knit, family-like environment where freedom of thought, individual growth, and mutual respect and trust would flourish.
Today, we proudly uphold the rich legacy she began, continuing to provide a vibrant, dynamic education rooted in the values she cherished. The love of children, dignity, and passion for learning that Mrs McDermott instilled still resonates through our school corridors and grounds. This is especially evident in the daily life of our pupils, who are immersed in an almost Enid Blyton-like existence, with acres of countryside to explore and trees to climb.
Break times are filled with adventure, as children scale the towering trees that line the grounds, some with ropes, ladders, and swings to enhance their play. Friends gather at the treetops, enjoying the freedom to explore and create memories, with the occasional teacher lending a helping hand when needed.
Mrs McDermott created something truly unique and special, and we are honoured to carry forward the greatness she exemplified at Kitebrook, blending the joy of nature with a love for learning.
