Poppy's design wowed judges, in a competition sponsored by Shakespeare Martineau and the Stratford Herald, and will see her drawing made into a special memento for all participants who complete the run. Poppy will also be lucky enough to be able to hand over the very first medal to the winner of the marathon when they cross the line.

Art teacher Mrs Kropf said: "It is such an honour to be chosen to design such a treasured memento for all the runners who take part in the Shakespeare Marathon, and I am absolutely thrilled for Poppy that her talent has been recognised in this competition.

"She should be very proud of herself, as we all are of her."
