As our pupils advance through Middle School (Years 3, 4, and 5), they become increasingly independent, taking responsibility for their own learning and embracing new challenges.

We recognise that each child develops at their own pace and is completely unique. With small class sizes, differentiated teaching methods, highly trained support staff, and strong collaboration with parents, we can truly focus on each child’s individual needs.

We place a strong emphasis on developing essential skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic, equipping our pupils with the tools they need to explore our broad and varied curriculum and the wider world. Our pupils take pride not only in their achievements but also in the small steps, breakthroughs, setbacks, and hurdles they overcome along the way. Kindness, care, and respect are integral to our Kitebrook Code of Conduct, which we uphold and expect our pupils to follow at all times. In Middle School, pupils learn to consider the needs of others alongside their own, through Prayers, weekly RCH (Relationship, Citizenship, and Health) lessons, and our Growth Mindset philosophy that promotes values such as empathy.

The great outdoors remains a vital part of the Middle School curriculum. During playtime, pupils enjoy their own area equipped with swings, slides, monkey bars, and climbing structures, as well as a large field for running, jumping, and free play. Tree climbing is actively encouraged at Kitebrook, as we believe it teaches children to assess, manage, and take risks. Weekly Outdoor Education lessons bring the curriculum to life with hands-on experiences that reinforce our Growth Mindset values, promote the study of the natural world, and enhance other subjects, such as Science and Mathematics.

Our Middle School marking policy fully engages pupils in reflecting on and assessing their own learning, giving them ownership of their educational journey. This approach helps them understand that, with the teacher’s support, their efforts are what will enable them to succeed.
