Through the early identification of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we aim to ensure that every child at Kitebrook experiences success in their learning and are valued and encouraged to contribute to all aspects of school life, as well as being happy, confident, independent and resilient thinkers.

Our learning support is in line with the SEND Code of Practice 2014 and utilises a graduated approach to assess each child’s needs. This process includes identifying those needs, planning appropriate support, implementing effective strategies and interventions and conducting regular reviews of the provision and the child’s well-being, in collaboration with their parents and carers.

We have a team of four well-qualified and experienced Learning Support teachers who work with children in small groups or on a 1:1 basis. They are committed to building self-confidence in their pupils, communicating with parents, coordinating with teaching staff and liaising with outside professional agencies where necessary (e.g. Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists).

Targets are shared with parents and individual learning plans regularly review smart targets that are being worked on in the support sessions. These lessons are 30 mins in length, take place weekly and are chargeable to parents.
